Interestingly Strange

Jayville Stories are comics that take place within the fictional city of Jayville, such as Interestingly Strange and WRD.

COMICS

IS

Interestingly Strange is an episodic comedy webcomic created by Syp that primarily centers on two employees of a store with opposing views towards their jobs. It is divided into three eras including Version 1, Deboot, and the currently ongoing Phantom Pains.

Version 1 centered on friends Paul and Doug with no established setting and only 10 comics made before it was retrofitted into Deboot. Deboot introduced grocery store coworkers Bagger and Guy as the central two characters and features one extended length episode. Phantom Pains is a sequel to Deboot, this time featuring an overarching storyline told across six multi-page episodes that connect to the narrative of WRD.

WRD

WRD is a serialized adventure webcomic created by Syp that centers on a trio of friends who end up biting off more than they can chew when they’re introduced to a powerful skull of unknown origin. WRD features a slightly different art style than Interestingly Strange, opting for full eyes instead of black ovals.

A second storyline to follow The Stolen Skull was planned, but never came into fruition, instead having its ideas and certain characters integrated into the Phantom Pains era of Interestingly Strange.

WRD is a reimagining of CCJ, a live action comedy web series created by 06 Media TV. The first four episodes of CCJ were the basis for WRD’s first episode, The Cloning Device. The remaining episodes of WRD were adapted from several unused scripts that were intended for CCJ that were written prior to its cancellation.
